Arriving by plane Visitors will generally flying into the Princess Juliana International Airport located on the Dutch Side (contact phone no +1721 545 5757) All travelers must complete the immigration form handed out during the flight, and be in possession of a valid passport and a return or continuing ticket. Naturalized Residents must show their original naturalization document with photo (Dutch side) or their residency card (French side). The regional airport ‘Esperance’ located on the French side in Grand Case, is for inter-island flights (St. Barth, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Guyana) and small aircrafts only. Departing from St. Martin/Sint Maarten, a tax can be applied, but most of the time it is included in the airline ticket. Arriving by sea Cruises St Martin/Sint Maarten has been a favorite for cruise ships since the 1970s. It is rated third in top world travel spots, and number one in the Caribbean. All major international cruise lines (Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Carnival, Holland American Cruise Line, etc) stop at the Dr. A.C. Wathey Cruise & Cargo Facilities in Philipsburg. With more than 650.000 visitors yearly, Sint Maarten prides itself on its beautiful port and amenities. Yachting St Martin/Sint Maarten is blessed with one of the worlds’ best spots for yachting, the Simpson Bay Lagoon. Luxury marinas, with every imaginable facility available, able to accommodate all sizes of boats, from Mega Yachts to small sailing boats. The Lagoon is accessible either from the French Side for smaller boats (Sandy Ground) or for Mega Yachts at Simpson Bay, from the Dutch Side. Watch out for the bridge opening hours! French citizens going through customs at the Princess Juliana International Airport must possess a valid passport too; ID is acceptable if entering at the regional airport ‘Esperance’. All visitors must fill out the immigration form. No vaccinations needed. Time differences Time difference from GMT: -4 hours, from New York: +1 hour during winter (end of October to end of March), from Europe: -5 hours in winter, -6 hours in summer (end of March to end of October). Pets travelling Pets (dogs and cats) are allowed, they must be older than 3 months old, have a passport, an up-to-date health declaration and vaccination record (rabies - this vaccination is only valid as of 1 months after the vaccination !! ). Official currencies Official currencies are the NAF (Netherlands Antilles Florin) on the Dutch side, and Euro on the French side; both sides accept US Dollars.
